“What Temperature is Too Cold for a Baby?”
Babies are allowed to go outside in the winter but there are several things you need to consider. Babies aren’t able to regulate their body temperature. They lack body fat and lose heat much quicker than adults.
If you are taking your baby out in cold weather, the general rule of thumb is to put one more additional layer on them than you would yourself.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says you can reduce your baby’s clothing to a single layer if the temperature is above 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The rule of thumb is to dress your baby in one more layer than you are to be comfortable.

It is recommended that baby’s room temperature should be between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 22.2 degrees Celcius). But even with the temperature within these guidelines, you still need to dress your baby similarly to you.

Or, if you are comfortable wearing a t-shirt and covering up with a blanket, dress your baby in a onesie and then zip them up in a sleepsac with an appropriate TOG. Pay attention to your baby to decide if you need to adjust their clothing. Feel their chest, back, and stomach. Do they feel too warm? Take off a layer. Do they feel cold? Add a layer or a sleepsac!
